Low-impact circuit workout for beginners, no jumping
By wrkoutPublished
This low-impact circuit keeps both feet close to the floor and leaves space to recover between exercises. Work for 30 seconds, then rest for 30 seconds. Complete the five movements in order and repeat for three rounds: 15 minutes in total, including the scheduled rests. Move at a pace you can control; you do not need to race the timer.
- Equipment
- A stable low step and a wall
- Time to allow
- 15-minute main block
- Format
- Timed circuit
Before you start
Place a stable, low step on a non-slip surface and clear the space around it. Warm up with three to five minutes of easy walking and a few shallow squats. In wrkout, use Circuit with three rounds, 30 seconds work, 30 seconds rest between exercises and 30 seconds rest between rounds. The app finishes after the last work interval, at 14 minutes 30 seconds. Take a final 30-second recovery to complete the 15-minute block.
These are general starting routines for adults, with suggested targets you can adjust. Use a comfortable range of movement and stop if an exercise causes pain. Ask gym staff to show unfamiliar equipment before using it.
Your workout, in order
Walking
30 seconds work, 30 seconds rest
Walk at an easy, steady pace. Keep your steps quiet, breathe steadily and use a wall for balance if needed.
Bodyweight Squat
30 seconds work, 30 seconds rest
Stand with your feet comfortable and heels planted. Sit between your hips to a depth you can control, then stand tall. Keep your arms in front for balance.
Incline Push-Up
30 seconds work, 30 seconds rest
Place your hands on a sturdy raised surface at chest height. Step back so your body is straight, lower your chest towards your hands, then press away.
Step-up with Knee Raise
30 seconds work, 30 seconds rest
Stand facing a stable, low step. Step up, bring the opposite knee up under control, then step back down and change sides.
Calf Raises
30 seconds work, 30 seconds rest
Use a wall for balance if needed. Rise onto the balls of your feet, pause briefly and lower your heels slowly.
How to progress
Start with one or two rounds if three feels too much. When you can finish comfortably, add the next round before changing the work time. Keep the movements quiet and controlled. Low impact describes the lack of jumping; it does not mean every exercise will suit every joint or fitness level. Swap any uncomfortable movement for easy walking.
Questions about this routine
Does no jumping mean this is an easy workout?
Not necessarily. The pace, range of movement and number of rounds still affect effort. Begin slowly and use the rest intervals. Add extra rest whenever you need it, even if that makes the session longer than 15 minutes.
What equipment do I need for the circuit?
You do not need weights. Use a stable, low step for step-ups and a wall for balance during calf raises if needed. Check that the step cannot slide before you begin.
